A new update for the transgender fiction search engine

Find yourself!

Find yourself!

I have updated the TFCC transgender fiction search engine again.

Besides adding several new TG caption blogs to the sites covered, I have also put up two subcategories.

Click on TG Caps to restrict results to TG caption sites and on TG Stories to sites that focus on short (or not so short) transgender stories.

Now that Google has fixed its Warning Page problem, all of the new TG cap sites have been indexed, at least partially. The most important of all TG fiction sites, Fictionmania is still not available. Whether the FM team will allow Google to spider the site when it is back remains to be seen.

To all your TG caps blog owners out there: This search engine is powered by Google, and Google needs text to understand what your caps are about. Google will not index text found within the images, i.e. the graphic file itself. There are three ways around this problem: (1) Include the text of the image in the blog post, or (2) add a line with the most important keywords, or (3) make sure the title of the blog post says something sensible about the topic of the cap.

The TFCC Transgender Fiction Search Engine

8 10 2008

Search the Net Please welcome the The TFCC search engine. It searches hand picked English language transgender fiction, caption, movie and comics sites.

It is based on the Google database, and includes all the pages of these sites Google has been able to spider.

There are some problems with this approach, and that is that too many of the TG sites are fenced off by logins and content warning screens. The Fictionmania database is therefore not included; nor is most of the pages of discussion forums like Rachel’s Haven and Bimbo’s.

The use of content warnings is understandable, as the sites in question would like to warn minors and others. Search engine crawlers also consume band width, and as some of these sites are struggling with “too much” traffic already, they might want to exclude Google and the lot for that reason.

Welcome to TFCC: Transgender Fiction, Captions and Comics

4 09 2008

No, this is not yet another TG fiction, cap or comix site. This is a meta site that is to gather information on all the good sites covering transgender transformations online.

The blog will present:

  • Transgender story sites
  • Sites presenting transgender captions
  • Sites that publish TG comics and drawings

Certain conditions apply:

  • The sites must be of a certain quality and have some content
  • The sites should be updated regularly. A site that has been “dead” for a year will be removed, unless it represent an essential repository of transgender fiction.

This site is also meant to make trangender fiction visible to the search engines. To many sites have their content hidden behind Content Warning pages, meaning that their pages are not spidered by the search engine robots. TFCC can function as a gateway from the search engines to these sites.

That means, however, that we need to boost the rankings to TFCC. Any relevant, quality site that links to Transgender Fiction, Captions and Comics will be included in the blogroll, increasing their chances of getting traffic back. Send an email to rebecca.molay@gmail.com and inform me about links.
